Welcome to Teagan and Abby Broadbent! We’re excited
to have Teagan and Abby Broadbent in the neighborhood. They live toward the top of the Highlands on Woodland Drive. Teagan grew up in North
Carolina and developed a passion for music. He has become a talented pianist and
now studies piano performance at Weber State and tutors high school students
online in literature and writing. Abby was born in Brigham City and later lived
in Hooper and Croydon before graduating from Morgan High. She studied fine arts
at BYU–Idaho and served a mission in Sweden, with a temporary reassignment to
California during COVID. The couple married in May after reconnecting
post-mission and recently moved to Mountain Green in August. Teagan describes
Abby as deeply kind and attentive to those who might otherwise be overlooked. Abby
admires Teagan’s steady, dependable nature. They both love the outdoors,
creativity, and building meaningful relationships. Abby is currently working on
launching her own art business, and the couple is excitedly preparing for the
arrival of their first child in March. They love the beauty of the area and the
warmth of the community. Please welcome the Broadbent’s!
Welcome to the Killpack Family! We’re excited to welcome Kayden and Jaden Killpack to the neighborhood, along with their wonderful four-month-old son, Bodhi, and their two beagle-mix dogs, Marley and Diggy. They live toward the bottom of the Highlands on Highland Drive. Kayden grew up in Rigby, Idaho, where he played football and basketball at Rigby High before earning a football scholarship to Weber State University. He met Jaden at WSU. Jaden was a teaching assistant for one of his classes, and the two have been a team ever since. After Jaden completed her physician assistant degree in North Carolina, they returned to Idaho for a few years before moving to the Highlands. Kayden now works as a lineman for Rocky Mountain Power in Park City. Jaden is grateful to be a full-time mom. She plans to return to her PA career once Bodhi is a bit older. The Killpacks are enjoying the peace and beautiful views of the area, and they’re looking forward to putting down roots here for the next few years. Kayden shared a life lesson he hopes to pass on to Bodhi: “There’s nothing you can’t achieve if you work hard enough.” We’re thrilled to have the Killpack family in our community—welcome!
Welcome to the Hansen Family. Cameron and Kiana and their beautiful daughters, Maizie & Haven, live toward the bottom of the Highlands on Highland Drive. Cameron is a humble, solid, family man who graduated from WSU on a football scholarship and works as a sales entrepreneur. Kiana is a terrific mother with a great sense of humor. She was raised in Arizona, earned a nursing degree, and is a devoted, full-time mom and part-time nurse. They both love snowboarding and the outdoors. They are really enjoying the neighborhood and have appreciated how friendly everyone has been. We welcome the Hansen family to the neighborhood!
Farewell to Judy Anne Wilson Larsen. We will miss Judy, who passed away at Chancellor Gardens. She was a long-time resident of the Highlands and an example of fun and joy. She's the sister of our wonderful Sue (Lynn) Peterson. Judy and Sue were a beautiful sister team who created community here in the Highlands. People always felt better when they were around Judy. She made everyone feel loved and put smiles on their faces. Judy was an avid bowler. She loved to go bowling with "Hot Shots" in the Tuesday Rebel League, where she formed close friendships. We’ll remember Judy for her joyful conversations and the twinkle in her eyes. We'll also remember her for hosting gatherings of family and neighbors. "She was the consummate host; her gatherings were legendary. Whether it was a sophisticated luncheon, a backyard barbeque, a holiday celebration, their annual Oktoberfest, or even a wedding or two, she created an atmosphere where everyone felt cared for and at ease. Her home was always open, always beautiful, and always filled with love" (see Judy's Obituary).
Some Hometown History. Mountain Green was one of the settlements in the county to have a school built before the County incorporated. In 1888, Morgan County created the Morgan Stake Academy. This school was housed on the second floor of the Morgan County Courthouse and served as the county's only school for secondary education beyond the eighth grade. There were three instructors: Albert Tollestrup, Dr. Karl G. Maeser, and Dr. Joseph M. Tanner. Karl Maeser went on to become the founder of Brigham Young Academy which became BYU – but he got his start here in Morgan County. (Thanks to Jennifer Pendleton Swilley for this information.)
