Spotlight on Ian & Caroline. Ian Schlieder and Caroline Cobb have lived on Aspen Circle in the Highlands for about a year – and they absolutely love living in the mountains! Caroline is an RN studying to become a Nurse Practitioner at the University of Utah. Ian is a vascular surgeon at McKay-Dee hospital. Both are outdoor enthusiasts and love Utah. They love hiking, camping, skiing, mountain biking, and being in nature. Ian was raised in NY/Nebraska and Caroline was raised in Mississippi/Texas. Caroline came to Utah when she moved here as a traveling nurse. Ian came here to do his post-residency surgical fellowship at the UofU. They met in a surgical clinic and one of their first dates was climbing Mt. Olympus. Both are fun, energetic, outgoing, likable, and easy to get to know. They share a mutual love for animals and have a beautiful white dog and two black cats. Ian says that Caroline is hard-working, knows how to get things done, and is the kind of person people enjoy being around. Ian’s best qualities include being a good friend, dependable, open to others, and taking care of people. We’re so glad to have Ian and Caroline as neighbors!!

Recent Block Party: Last week the Wilkerson's & York's hosted their annual block party. Good friends, good fun, and good food. Neighbors met on a beautiful summer evening, and the Ryan’s fried green tomatoes were a hit!

Upcoming Block Party: Betsy Macken & Lynda Whicker have scheduled their block party for Friday, September 22, at 6:30pm at Betsy's back yard.

A New Baby is Born! Congratulations to Travis and Lizzy Forsyth on the birth of their new baby! Cutest family ever!!

Breakfast at the Bowery. Community members came together at the bowery last Saturday to celebrate the 236th anniversary of the signing of the US Constitution. Kids screamed with delight when an airplane flew over and dropped candy.

Memories: Did You Know? Did you know that Hinds Country Store is named for the Hinds family who live here in the Highlands?  The service station in Peterson used to be called Penny’s. It was built by Penny Pendleton who built it by the Weber River bridge in 1945. Unfortunately, it had to be demolished just two years later when the Interstate was built. Penny didn’t give up. In 1969 he rebuilt and renamed it Pendleton’s Country Store at the current location. Our own Darral and Sandra Hinds (along with Randy & Debbie Hinds) then became the owners in 1985 and named it Hinds Quick Stop. They sold in 2011, but it still retains their name!
