Welcome Matthew & Shannon Treasure!  Hi neighbors! We’re Matthew and Shannon, and our 14-month-old son, Collins, and we’re excited to be back in the Mountain Green area and to call this neighborhood home. Matthew grew up in Mountain Green, so coming back feels especially meaningful and gives us the chance to raise Collins around the mountains, trails, and community that made his childhood so special. Matthew and Shannon met along the way, and since then life has moved pretty quickly—we got married, made it through medical school and emergency medicine residency, and somehow managed to have Collins in the middle of it all! After several busy years away for training, we’re thrilled to finally be back home in Utah and closer to family, friends, and the outdoors we love. We spend most of our free time exploring outside, whether that’s biking, running, skiing, hiking, or finding new adventures with Collins. We’re looking forward to getting to know everyone and becoming part of the neighborhood!

 

Welcome Nate and Kristin Graber! We’re delighted to welcome Nate and Kristin, who are settling into their new log home on Box Elder Street – and the neighborhood couldn't ask for a better addition. Nate and Kristen are not strangers to Mountain Green. Nate said, “We’ve been renting in Mountain Green for five years, looking for the forever home in the Highlands. We found it! We were in the US Air Force and have lived all over the United States and Europe, with over 27 years of service. We like to ski and hike, and we love hummingbirds!”

 

A Big Highlands Hello to the Taylor Family! Please welcome the Taylor family to Mountain Green! Randy and Karen (pictured on the left) have been married since 1973. More than five decades later, they have built a wonderful family. They feel fortunate to have kept their family close, with Stacy and Josh (pictured on the right) living all together. Josh and his dad Randy share a love of mechanics and radio-controlled airplanes, while Stacy enjoys collecting and reading books, cooking, and baking. Karen is known for her big heart, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help anyone. The Taylors are excited to enjoy Mountain Green’s peace, quiet, and natural beauty. We are delighted to have them as our newest neighbors!

 

 

Welcome Chase and Tess Kearl. We’re excited to have Chase and Tess here in the Highlands. They are living with Tess’ mom, Wendy McCullough. But that’s not all. Their new baby, Mac Curtis McCullough, gets to live with Grandma as well, and Wendy is loving that! Chase grew up partly in Utah and was raised in Colorado, while Tess grew up in Snowflake, Arizona. The two met while working for the same company and have now made Mountain Green their home. Chase enjoys skiing while Tess loves to read and has embraced motherhood with remarkable warmth and natural ability. They love living in Mountain Green. We are delighted to welcome this sweet family to the neighborhood!

 

Welcoming Sean and McKayla Crose to the neighborhood! Sean and McKayla were married in June 2024 and previously lived in Lehi, where Sean worked as a European automobile mechanic, and McKayla worked with the seminary program. Baby Isabella joined their family in February 2026, and in May, Sean began aviation school at the Ogden Airport to become a pilot. Sean also enjoys cars, hunting, camping, and hiking, while McKayla enjoys quilting. They are excited to be back in Mountain Green, where they appreciate the area’s natural beauty and wonderful people. Friendly and always willing to serve, the Crose family will be a delightful addition to our neighborhood!

 

 

The Famous “Brats” Block Party! The Sierra Avenue West Block gathered together last week to renew old friendships and make new ones. Block Captains Rick & Elise Barnes organized the event, and Bill & Bev Dahlquist hosted it in their beautiful backyard. Bev took a hard stand stating, “If you have any sense, you’ll know that the best block parties serve brats.” So that’s what they did. Rick Barnes said, “We lost count, but this may be about our 15^th annual block party.” Good times were had by all.

Welcome Home to the Standing’s. Scott & Lori Standing are returning home after two years living in Iowa. And they have stories to tell! Welcome home!!!

 

 

Thank you to those who fought the Rocky Canyon Fire.  Thanks to our firefighters and emergency personnel for their heroic efforts in containing the Rocky Canyon fire in Morgan and Summit counties. We are also grateful for the much-needed recent rains. We are still at risk of further fires, so please stay fire-safety-minded to help keep our homes and mountains safe.

 

Celebrating Ken Wallace’s 90^Th Birthday!  Friends, neighbors, and family gathered to celebrate Ken Wallace’s wonderful life at age 90. Ken is a West Point Academy graduate who has served his country and community. Ken has had a lasting impact on so many and we wish him well on this wonderful occasion! All the best to you, Ken. Thank you for your acts of kindness and friendship!

 

 

Bon Voyage to Craig & Reva Taylor. This October, we bid a fond farewell—for now—to Craig and Reva Taylor as they leave for an 18-month humanitarian service assignment in Geneva, Switzerland. They will work with ambassadors, consulates, nonprofit organizations, and interfaith groups connected with the United Nations, helping build friendships and identify opportunities to serve people around the world. Although they will deeply miss their family, Craig and Reva are excited to take on this adventure together and contribute wherever they can. Their kindness, sincerity, and genuine concern for others will serve them well. We wish them a wonderful experience, look forward to hearing their stories, and can’t wait to welcome them home!

 

Our Annual Food Drive is Coming! You are invited to participate in the Highlands Food Drive on September 23^rd. Please put donation items on your porch for pick-up before 5:00 pm. Many of us are blessed with abundance, but for some of us, this has not always been the case. This is an opportunity to give back for those who can and help those in our county who are in need.

 

Cemetery Clean-up Service Opportunity This Saturday. You’re invited to help clean the Mountain Green Cemetery on Saturday, August 29, from 7:30-11:30 am. Families and individuals are invited to help. We will clean gravestones (buckets/brushes will be provided) and clean up the cemetery grounds by weeding, trimming trees, etc. Please bring your own gardening tools.

Some Hometown History.  Jennifer Pendleton Swilley says, “I remember the Dairy Farmer at the base of the Highlands delivering fresh cold milk every morning to most of us in glass bottles. It's a great memory that I forgot about until I saw this post!” The picture is of our own Robert Poll as a boy, his father Verl, and their cow.
