Thanks for a Fun (and sunny) Summer Bash! After a stormy, rainy afternoon, the clouds parted – and the sun came out just in time for our Highlands get-together at the park last Saturday. Thanks to those who organized our annual event and to all our neighbors who brought their smiles and tasty dishes to share. A good time was had by all, and we were grateful the weather didn’t turn out similar to the hurricane-like storm we had a couple of years ago! (See more Summer Bash pics below.)
Welcome to Rebeca and Finn Kamanski. Welcome to Rebecca and her son, Finn, who recently moved to the Highlands on Gordon Creek Circle. Rebecca graduated from Ogden High and went to Weber for her associates degree. She worked in office management positions and settled in Farmington for about 15 years. She eventually decided to go back to Weber and earned her bachelor’s degree in technical sales in 2018. In 2019 her beautiful boy, Finn, was born who is now 4 years old. Rebecca found a research study showing that kids watch about 1000 hours of screentime a year. So Rebecca and Finn do not do any screentime and have a goal to hit 1000 hours a year being outdoors instead. They enjoy biking, scooters, sandboxes, splashpads, rivers, hiking, paddle boarding, canoeing, walks, outside art projects, eating outside, the zoo, museums, etc. Rebecca said it’s actually quite difficult to get 1000 hours of outside time, but so far they’ve hit their goal each year! Rebecca believes in the value of patience, being adaptable when things turn out differently than planned, and being able to find the good in everyday situations. We are SO excited to have Rebecca and Finn in the neighborhood. Welcome!
Welcome Home to the Barnes! Rick and Elise Barnes have returned home after spending 18 months as missionaries in the Big Apple – NYC! They met people from all over the world and all kinds of backgrounds. They absolutely loved their time there, but are glad to be home again. We’ll be seeing the Barnes out walking and being their friendly, outgoing selves. We love the Barnes and are so glad you’re home!
Congrats to the Couple! Sending our best wishes and congratulations to Carson Ordyna and Abigail Winn who will be married this week. We’re so happy for you!!
Spotlight on Kaba. This is Kaba who lives with Dana and Dan Zinz and their family at 5805 Sierra. She is a 3-year-old mini schnauzer. Her name means hippo in Japanese -- obviously because of her size! She was a rescue dog. She never learned to bark. She thinks she's a cat and meows. She doesn’t run either; she hops like a bunny. Kaba likes kids but is very scared of adults, especially men. Their son Easton is her favorite person. She greets him every time he comes in the door. She loves playing in the yard and rolling in the grass whenever she's not sleeping.
Caught on Camera. Adam Ordyna and Gareth Ogden showing off their catch!
