Spotlight on Mari Hersh.  Mari was raised in the beautiful city of Jaen in southern Spain. Jaen is known for its production of olive oil and its beautiful castles, cathedrals and fortresses. After high school Mari went to college and then into clothing design. She came to Utah for a month to do genealogy and after a few trips back and forth from Spain to Utah she ended up staying in Utah.  Mari has worked in many positions over the years including as a legal translator.  Mari is the proud mother of her two boys, Danny and Chris, and the grandmother of 5 grandchildren who she adores.  She has also volunteered extensively in the Scouting program and at one point flew in a helicopter so that her scouts could get their flying merit badge. Mari is also an amazing holiday hostess and enjoys decorating during the holidays. Mari and her husband Bruce live on Sierra Avenue. One of the things that Mari loves most about Bruce is his sense of humor and adventure.  She loves living in Mountain Green because of its natural beauty and the goodness of the people. She says that it doesn’t matter whether someone is rich or poor, they always give you a smile and are very kind and humble.  Mari’s husband, Bruce, said that what he admires about Mari is that she is a strong, beautiful, and caring person who loves her family and is fun to be around. We are so grateful for Mari’s wonderful personality and the rich heritage and sweet friendship she brings with her to our community!

Spotlight on Ace, Bogey, and Biscuit.  These are Ace and Bogey and Biscuit who live with the Loughton’s at 6751 N. Weber Drive. Ace is a 5-year-old Labradoodle, Bogey is a 14-year-old Tuxedo cat, and Biscuit is a 5-month-old hamster. The family also has chickens whose eggs they and many neighbors enjoy. Ace is a big sweetheart who loves the family including Bogey and Biscuit. He also loves visitors and welcomes them with bringing them some of his toys, shoes or really anything he can find. He knows lots of tricks including sit, lay down, go to bed, high five, shake, roll over, and put your balls away. He loves to go on walks and really wants to take one of his stuffed animals along. The family discourages that however, thinking it’s a bit babyish for his adult status. Bogey follows them on their walks — on his own, no leash. He just loves to be with them. He also loves to be with the chickens, and they share their food with him. The family wants Bogey to be in at night because it’s safer, and so he’s trained to come inside for his special treats when they call him. Biscuit loves canned pumpkin and loves to be pet and loves to be near Ace and crawl on his paws. He’s happy to share his pumpkin with the other animals!
