Highlands Chipper Days 2025. We've been notified that “Chipper Days” will be held again this year from May 1 to May 18. "Chipper Days" is an opportunity to remove dead tree limbs and overgrown foliage. You can drag it to the street so it can be chipped and hauled away. This reduces wildfire risk in our community.
Calling All Helping Hands: Neighborhood Service Opportunity. Loren and Ali Brumley are moving into their new home this weekend. They could use some help moving furniture. Two options: (1) Friday, April 11 at 10:00am or (2) Saturday, April 12 at 10:00am. Meet at 5783 Sierra Drive.
Message from Fire Department. Due to the potential wildfire risks in the Highlands, open burning is strictly prohibited. Burn permits will not be issued. Cooking or warming fires are permitted in state-approved fire pits with a maximum diameter of 3 feet and a height of 2 feet, using logs only (no yard debris, leaves, old bills, construction debris, etc.). You are responsible for any home or wildfires that your fire may start. Remember, embers carry far. A mesh screen over your fire is recommended, or better still, a gas fire pit. Smores taste just as good over a gas fire pit.
Preparedness Fair. All interested neighbors are invited to an Emergency Preparedness Fair at the Highlands Church Building (5378 West Old Highway Rd). The event will be held on Friday, April 11, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for the community to come together, learn, prepare, and strengthen its readiness for unexpected emergencies. The fair will offer a wide variety of classes and displays covering essential areas of emergency preparedness. You are welcome to come and go, joining the classes and displays that interest you most. We have attached the schedule of classes and room assignments. Emergencies can arise at a moment’s notice and often affect entire communities. Preparing together in advance helps ensure greater health, safety, and security during challenging times.
