Spotlight on Two New Highlands Families! We are happy to welcome two new families to the neighborhood. The Morgans live at the top of the Highlands, and the Fugals live at the bottom of the Highlands. Both families have four children. Jon and Bonnie Morgan moved here from South Weber. Their four kids are Gabe (26), Freeman (22), Bella (20), and Jace (18). Bonnie and Jon met while at USU at a fitness company. Bonnie liked Jon’s sense of humor, and Jon liked Bonnie’s laugh and her friendliness. They are both excited about the mountains and people here in Mountain Green and look forward to connecting. Spencer and Emily Fugal moved here from Reno. Their four kids are Joshua (23), Daniel (21), Anna (18), and Benjamin (15). Emily and Spencer met while attending USU when their sisters set them up. Emily appreciated Spencer’s active nature and love for the outdoors. Spencer loved playing games with Emily and all the activities they did together. They are excited to live in the beauty of Mountain Green – both the place and the people – and be closer to family. They value friendliness and have already met many friendly neighbors. Please welcome the Morgans and the Fugals to the neighborhood.
Farewell to our Beloved Earl McCain. Longtime Highlands neighbor, Earl McCain, passed away July 19, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Earl and his wonderful wife, Carole, moved to Mountain Green 56 years ago on August 3, 1969. They raised four incredible children in these hills: Matt, Amy, Andrew, and John. Earl worked at Weber State University and was heavily involved in our community, including serving as Scout Master in scouting and so many other activities. He was passionate about education and served as the president of the Morgan School Board and as a member of the State School Board. It was fun to see him running the shot clock and game clock for WSU athletics. We will miss you, Earl. And we love you, Carole. Thank you for all that the two of you have contributed to our Highlands community. See https://www.walker-mortuary.com/obituaries/alonzo-mccain.

Highlands Block Parties Have Begun! Neighbors in Block 3 gathered together to enjoy for good food, good friends, and good fun. Thanks to Rick and Elise Barnes for organizing the event and to Bill and Beverly Dahlquist for hosting it at their home. It was a beautiful summer evening. Bratwursts were served, changing a decade old tradition of grilling burgers. Thanks to all who attended!
